Consignment sale, Morrow Co, Oh..??

My problem with (most) consignment sales is, one doesn't know if they are bidding against the owner that is trying to get the most out of the item.
I don't blame them for wanting the max they can get, but a more fair way would be to put a reserve on said item. I have been to sales where the same person has bought the same item for the last several sales. Also the buyers premium turns me off in a hurry. What does most of you all think about it?

It don't really matter who you are bidding against. You only bid on what you are willing to pay for it. Goes too high, walk away

Around here they either have to put a reserve on and it is anounced it has a reserve or no reserve and it goes, not allowed to bid on your own items.

You can't control what others will pay for something. I've always tried the "two bids and I'm out" system. If two bids won't get the item I back away. Sometimes I get in later if the price is still acceptable but there's no need in running it up on yourself. To defend the right of the free market, I once heard something that stuck with me. "If people are bound and determined to spend their money it's morally wrong to deny them the priviledge"...:) Mike

Thanks..!!!

I have found and bought some good pieces I use and use hard..all they needed was minor work or just paint..
Trouble there is, with 5 Auctioneers (several in Pope-mobiles), sometimes you need to be in 3 places at once..!!
