Rolling baskets

I am looking for rolling baskets for my digger and I am wonder what rolling baskets seem to work best?

Remlinger makes a good rolling harrow. We put on on our JD finisher last spring. What a difference in seed bed quality. It came palletized with good instructions. Easy to install. The type we installed has the flat bar type instead of the round. It can be mounted for passive or aggressive harrowing action.

I've got an older double basket Unverferth and happy with what it does, but I don't try and set land speed records when I'm tilling. When I start bouncing in the seat it is time to slow down. The newer Unverferths are built stronger and the top model 1225 looks pretty heavy. J&M version is a even a bit more rugged and if I wanted to run in road gear and were buying new, would seriously consider it

Also interject that I generally favor flat bars over round bars for general useage. Round bars are better for breaking clods. However DMI TM II's used a single round bar basket and a 3 bar harrow and that combination did a great job on clay and the heavier soils in our area.

We just built a set for us, haven"t tried em out yet we used 7/8 rebar with 6 inch diameter circles of steel 2 inches thick in the middle. Welded it all up and mounted rod on both ends put it in some bearings looks just as professional as our neighbors but was free, not 10000 +

Hope you like the result. Read several posts on another forum which pretty much claimed it wasn't worth the effort. Bars should not be straight across but curved around the basket and it is extremely tough to do this without a jig. Baskets are expensive so used machines aren't worth a whole lot more than scrap if the baskets need replaced.
