Hey Erik,Let me tell you a story on a 468 J.D. baler.I really am not a J.D. fan but when something impresses me I will surely be the first one to say so.Back in about 06 I was combining rye for a customer and I got a friend with a newer Vemeer round baler to bale some of the straw for me and it turned into a nitemare. This was the big bale version with the gathering wheels on the front and it wouldn't even feed in one windrow from my combine without having to go super slow and at times even stopped up in the front to the point the slip clutch would slip. All this was happening in straw off of 15bpa rye that wasn't very thick at all.Two days later I started cutting some real good wheat(60-70bpa)with a TON of straw from cutting it real low and this customer had a guy with a 468 J.D. baler come in to bale it.I was just dropping it out the back of the combine in a windrow just like i did in rye and there was at least twice as much straw as the rye and probably closer to three times as much.Heres where it gets good--When the bailing crew pulled in the field they had the baler but they also brought a 8 wheel v rake. They started with the rake raking two of my windrows together and I was thinking from the combine cab "you idiots, you will never be able to bale that!" but boy was I wrong. That J.D. baler eat the huge windrow like there was no tomorrow! The windrow was so high up on a 4440J.D. tractor that the front axle was pushing it at times and he was baling just as fast as he could hold it on the row and making some beautiful bales to boot.I don't fool with hay but if I did you can bet this is the baler I would have in my camp.I think you will be VERY pleased with it. |
