Sealing up a NH 55 gearbox

Been working on this gear box and now putting it back together. Whats the best way to seal up the back plate that has all the bolts around it. Does NH sell a gasket or is it best to use liquid gasket sealer? I put a new seal on the in put shaft, would really like to run 90 w gear oil and not have to fill it with cornhead grease as that what was in it but that is a pain if you have to open it up to work on it. Am I expecting too much hoping that a new seal on the input shaft won't leak the 90 weight oil. Thanks

I worked at a NH dealer in the 70's. NH told us to pump two tubes of grease in them way back then. If I were doing one now I would use corn head grease.

Something else to consider is to use John Deere Multi-lube,it is a pourable grease than was used in built on lube systems of cornpickers, balers and older combine cornheads. On our Deere 660 rake the manual says to fill with grease and if you rebuilt it you should not ever have to work on it again.

I've seen some that had nothing but a grease nipple on them...

You can use silicon on the plate... as far as I know.
I'd still expect it's probably going to leak on the shaft tho.
