Tin's new hay tools

Thanks for all the advice on the balers, I ended up with an 08 468 with 5200 bales, just came in on trade and had an inspection. No major work, a belt and some adjustments were made on it. Their going to bring it out for me in a couple weeks, I brought home the swather I bought last week, a 12' 8360 CIH. I sold my old baler and swather last week, a 489 9' NH and a 554XL Vermeer. I'm excited for hay season now. I pray we see some moisture to make a crop.

That's two things I need to invest in. I bought my haybine new in 94 and the baler new in 97. They've both seen better days. I'm on the fence right now whether to replace them this year or the loader tractor that I've had for 31 years. Seems I never run out of places to spend money.

So thats what it looks like. For some reason I thought you were dealing on a New Holland cutter.

Hope the new additions work out for you. There is always something that needs replacing. We are in dire need of a different loader tractor, and a shop would be nice but I digress.

I'm thinking about trading a 180 Massey with Great Bend loader on a new westendorf wl 42 for my 1105. We'll see, we've got 2 180's and I don't use them much except for the loaders now that I've got the 1105 and 1135. It would be nice to have a little stouter loader.

I here you Randy, it never does end. If I want to make a 4x6 I need a different trailer, I have a 16' flatbed gooseneck and the deck is full with 6 4x5's. I think I'm going to bale 4x5's another year and see where things go. My shed has overflowed and I'm praying we have a good year this year. I'd like to build a 40x60 open on the east side with 3 20 foot bays to get my trucks, tractors and headers out of the weather. I dug out a couple ponds last summer and as soon as it warms up I'm going to haul the dirt up and build a pad.

You won't be disappointed with the green baler. Always good to see a young farmer on the way up. Best of luck.

Hey Erik,Let me tell you a story on a 468 J.D. baler.I really am not a J.D. fan but when something impresses me I will surely be the first one to say so.Back in about 06 I was combining rye for a customer and I got a friend with a newer Vemeer round baler to bale some of the straw for me and it turned into a nitemare. This was the big bale version with the gathering wheels on the front and it wouldn't even feed in one windrow from my combine without having to go super slow and at times even stopped up in the front to the point the slip clutch would slip. All this was happening in straw off of 15bpa rye that wasn't very thick at all.Two days later I started cutting some real good wheat(60-70bpa)with a TON of straw from cutting it real low and this customer had a guy with a 468 J.D. baler come in to bale it.I was just dropping it out the back of the combine in a windrow just like i did in rye and there was at least twice as much straw as the rye and probably closer to three times as much.Heres where it gets good--When the bailing crew pulled in the field they had the baler but they also brought a 8 wheel v rake. They started with the rake raking two of my windrows together and I was thinking from the combine cab "you idiots, you will never be able to bale that!" but boy was I wrong. That J.D. baler eat the huge windrow like there was no tomorrow! The windrow was so high up on a 4440J.D. tractor that the front axle was pushing it at times and he was baling just as fast as he could hold it on the row and making some beautiful bales to boot.I don't fool with hay but if I did you can bet this is the baler I would have in my camp.I think you will be VERY pleased with it.

Hey Eric, what do you use to pull that 3 pt subsoiler in the
background and what is your soil type? That's a no-nonsense
implement.

Mark

I pull it in silt loam and clay loam with an 1135 Massey at about 12-15" deep. You know it's there but I pull it in 1st gear high range at about 4mph with duals. Inners are loaded outsides are not. About 200lbs of front weights.
