Front end loader, tooth bar or cutting bar

Last summer I bought a new holland with a 5foot loader. It is
handy to move things around. When I tried to widen a woods
road it would get stuck on tree routs etc. would a tooth bar or
cutting bar help? Thanks, Craig

If you are using a tractor loader and trying to rip roots, I do not think teeth will help, if you are putting that much force to one side of the loader, you could easily stress fracture or bend components that make up the loader, roots are strong, you really need earth moving equipment that is built stronger, a tractor loader with a 5 foot bucket, is going to be too light. Even with bits on the bucket wall sides, that could cut, once the roots are severed on one side, thats all you'll get, leaving a flapper sticking out the other and I assume these are from standing trees not stumps. A 3 pt backhoe would be a better choice, or a dozer. Teeth on the bucket could create a situation where it wants to dig in too deep too fast or catch too many roots at once, causing you to lose traction or stall. I don't see teeth on a small bucket being used effectively on thick stubborn roots, when trying to use it as a root rake, conditions may vary, overall I do not think its a productive method to use.

What type pf tractor?? Does it have a 3 point?? Are the tires full of fluid??? With a loader you need ballast on the rear or it will be a sitting duck. If you have a 3 point put the heaviest thing you have on it that helps. My self I use a back blade with 6-85lbs suit case weights and a 150lbs wheel weight on the center link hook up on that blade. T have pushed down 6 inch tress with the loader. 1960 Ford 841 with 12 speed as in Sherman combo

I have used tractor bucket with teeth on loader for small areas. but if you are doing a large area your will be much better off renting a
backhoe. Recommend you get one with 4 wheel drive. I just cleared a mile of fence line using a backhoe. removed a couple dozen trees from the line by digging them out. Tom

The tractor is a TC25D with 3 point 4wheel drive and loaded tires. I use it mostly for light work. I do have some compacted dirt piles that I want to move next spring, I was thinking the tooth bar would be good to loosen up the dirt. Thanks to all. Craig
