I know I have seen on here about some place that deals in parts for corn planters. Anybody have details? Are they just the newer planters or parts for planters from the 60's back?

Check with Roger Kalsem in Waterloo Iowa-He runs a planter salvage yard he calls Planterland USA. He has old and new parts-NICE GUY! A little high at times but can deal. GOOD LUCK

Dean, sent you an email. Curently what I am needing parts for is the McCormick 449 and 449A planters, The 2 row 249-250 also use the same parts. I work on machinery for the Amish and those are the only 4 row planter that was made that you can get plates for that can be set to 30" rows that they are now needing to get their corn including popcorn harvested. The John Deere 490 can only be set down to 36" rows and it will not work with 30" headers. In the future I am thinking about taking the 490 planter and modifing the frame to get them to the 20" row spacing. Am also considering taking 2 of the 290 frames and extending them out to be able to put 4 planter units on. What is making it hard to find planters is that they have to be clutch lift and the last Deere clutch lift was the 490 last built in 1956 but only in wide row spacing and then the McCormic built in the late 50'5 to early 60's. Don't know if Moline or Case ever built a planter of this type, The Oliver 402 I last saw 40 years ago when I got rid of mine and could not get plates for at that time so it as of now leaves it all to McCormick.
