I have a old horse orn planter that I AM FIXING UP. in one of the corn boxes one piece is broke. I was wondering if anyone has this piece or if I got someone to braise it will it hold. there is nothing missing just broke. The numbers on the broken piece are 3003A on the good piece the number is 3004A. Any help would be great. Thanks

Can you post a photo of the planter so we could have a look at it?

Bob,
Any chance you can send me or post a photo of the 3pt set up. I'm probably going the change mine over to 3pt and alway looking for different ideas. Yours looks about the same as mine exspect yours is a check rower. Probably a 102 or 104. I bought my manual off ebay. It's a reprint for about $10/$12. It's about 32 pages or so and has been helpful. seed plates for it are readily available. I know you have some plates hanging there. If you have the sweet corn you can match the plates up easy enough. If you want to email me your address I'll send you a link for the planting info for the richmond hopper to veiw or download for free. This will come in handy for matching seed plates.

If your planter looks like mine the part #'s you gave 3003A inner cut-off pawl Might help to know what the part is to locate it.
And 3004A outer cut-off pawl and that was for the 102/104/106 McCormick planter.

What is the difference in the 102/104/106 planter? Trying to figure a way to identify them.

No expert on these planters just learning myself but the parts book shows that the 102 and 106 were 30-inch wheel planters. the 104 was a 36-inch wheel planter.
The 102 and 104 Had the check rower. Also some of the furrowing attachent were avilable for some but not listed for others. Like the single disk opener was available for the 102 & 106 but not the 104. Same with the double disk opener but then they had a double disk opener that attached to the sword that was available for all three units.
As I stated I'm still learning so I don't know if this was any help or I just confused the question even more.

Yes that is what my planter looks like, only yours is a lot nicer looking. So thank you very much for the info. I hope to get it up and going so I can get some sweet corn planted in the spring.

The Parts Depot in Chilton WI lists a quantity of (6) of each number on hand, NOS. You need to find a dealer to go through to get them, though. Call Nelson at 1-800-743-3768 to find one.

Would help a lot if we would know the make of the planter. Cannot tell from the picture the make. That is the one piece that does wear out in the boxes. Depending on the make it could be avaible new.

Leroy it is a old horse drawn planter made by McCormick Deering. I do not know the number or model.

OK, if you talk to a good McCarmick parts man they can probably get you a new one, If it was Oliver, Blackhawk, Case, Moline or some of the other makes I would say it was no longer avaible but being McCormick then it is a good possibility it is still avaible as there are a lot of them still in use in my area. If I get a chance I just might find that part in one of my books. Looks to me like it is from what they call the richmond hopper and there are tractor mounted planters that take the same hopper and it is considered a standard wear part.
