tedder teeth

does anyone know of a source for teeth for an old Nicholson tedder? We don"t use it much anymore but it"s great for fluffing up wet windrows. I may try to modify some modern teeth but these things are very unusuall, with 2 "loops" of spring. thanks.

I do not know what a "Nicholson" tedder is but, there are companys that have teeth for almost enything made and can make to your old tooth but that is expencive. If I had a good set of pictures with good measurements when I get back up there I could have the dealer check if they are in the catalog. I know they have some teeth for side delieverys that date back to 1917 but what they stock is what they have calls for now and then.

We had a Nicholson tedder with the same type of "double loop" spring teeth on it. It never really worked that great IMO, but I gave up trying to find teeth for it. We ended up donating it to JRSutton for the 4H kids. I have heard that some Amish make their own teeth for obsolete pieces like this. Might want to look into that.

Hi there,
If you have a spring co. any where near you, they can make them for you. Just take them a sample. Have them make some extras. Once they are set up it will be easy for them. I had some made in the past and found it not so bad. Good Luck. Ed Will

And I've continued that search, with the same results.

Funny thing is, Steve - the guy who came with me to pick it up - keeps a small pile of old parts that he's pulled out of his field over the years while haying.

Right there in the middle of that little pile are two blue nicholson tedder teeth. What are the chances of that?

Plowboy - I've got some amish friends in Ohio I stay with once or twice a year. I'll be going out there for a big equipment auction in March.

They've got a lot of connections and they've always amazed me at their ability to find obscure parts for me.

I hope to either find some teeth or find somebody who can make them.

If I do - I'll be sure to post here.

Thank you! Have fun at the auction. A cousin of mine says the "hunt" is really the best part. After you find what your looking for, well, that"s when the work starts.

That's true for winter - but once spring starts approaching the "hunt" becomes more of a desperate scramble.

And that's when you start hemoraging money.
