Vermeer 504 G Replacing a big spring

I am looking for advice on replacing one of the big tension springs on the left hand side. Anybody ever done this before. The hook at the top broke off and i was going to use the screw in repair plug until I noticed the hook on the bottom of the spring was bent and I am afraid it may break sooner than later. Thanks

I did the screw in repair on a similar baler and recently replaced a spring on a 505 I. It wasn't any trouble on the 505, I just ran the adjustment screw in, slipped the hook in place, then tightened the screw. Probably similar on the 504 G.
