ferguson single furrow plough

i just use this trencher tool as it does not make such a large opening.

then cover the potatos with this hiller tool.
works good.

then as the potatos grow the hiller tool is great for pulling dirt up to the potato plants
i made this one roll hiller, someone should sell them as they are great tools for a small garden or truck patch grower.

That hiller looks great. Where did you find the disk sets? I would like to make one, maybe 2 row and use a Dearborn or Ferguson cultivator frame.

i made the hiller out of an old IH 8ft disc.
it is the rear gang inside bearings with two blades. I just cut the gang shaft off and welded a outside stop onto the shorten shaft then screwed the nut back on and was ready to go.
welded a rough 3 pt hitch onto the frame.

it works great hilling up corn or making ridges.

I use it every year with my little TO-35 Ferg

If you guys are planting spuds for self consumption, you are working way too hard and wasting garden space, time and fuel. You might better buy spuds at the local farm market.
I use raised bed garden boxes. Planted two 4'x12' boxes. Till soil with spade (takes 15min. per box) lay a single layer of newspaper on it, lay cut spud sets 8"OC, cover with two layers newspaper, and 4" of grain straw. Set back and watch them grow. when it is time to harvest, (stalks dead) simplly push your fingers and hands into the noncompacted soil and pick the spuds out of the boxes. I harvested 2.5 Jackson M11 wheelbarrows full of Pontiacs, Kenebecks, and Yukon Golds. Thats enough for the wife and I for the coming year.
