Black Friday Special - 703 Loader Purchase - Advice??

I bought this loader Friday and I am going to install it on my 860. It has an old Vickers vane pump on it and I was going to do away with that and install the HV5902 kit sold here. Can some one tell me the differance between the HV5902 and the HV4902 kit?

I was planning on using one of these kits and just feed my Valve/Spool Assy from the kit if I understand the purpose of these kits correctly. Any other options/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks :?: This was the only Black Friday Shopping I did.

Just guessing but I would think just the pump displacement. (GPM output)

You won't be happy with the tractor pump. Get a front mount
pump for that loader. It runs off the front of the crankshaft.
The tractor pump will be so slow, you'll end up putting a front

Thank you for responding to my post, but your answer is subjective to your opinion. Could you be a little more objective...when you say [The]"pump will be so slow"

The 703 loader was rated, at the time, as one of the fastest cycling loaders on the market @ 11 seconds. If I use the tractor adapter, will the cycle double, say, 22 seconds?

Do you have a tractor that has a loader that is "so slow"?

One of my considerations is cost. It will cost at least $400 for a pump and the shaft and mounting adapters. If I use the Power beyond plate the cost would be $88 plus a couple of hoses.

Another consideration is, I have a 58 year old tractor, although very worthy, it serves its purpose for me, even modestly. I'm in no hurry when I use it.

If you are looking for something useable and not something that will be worked hard every day you will be fine. For years we had an 8N with a loader run off of the test port. We didn't know any different, it worked just fine, and it was a lot better than a shovel. Make sure your pump is in good shape and go after it. I'd hook it up, run it a day good, and then change all the fluid. You don't know what's left in that system right now and you sure don't want to pump in a lot of water and leave it in your tractor.

All that said, throw your pennies in a coffee can and save up for a front pump. You will appreciate the upgrade and your machine probably would, too

I was wondering about cleaning the loader system. I didnt know if I could flush it with kerosene or ATF or what? The system has been closed up and I haven't looked at it yet to see what the fluid looks like.

My 860 tractor has the piston type hydraulic pump and I just changed the fluid. The system works well as far as the 3pt goes. Good advice though on replacing fluid after short use.

The loader does not have a filter on it. I was thinking about installing one. What do you think?

To answer your question, the HV4902 kit only has the pressure and Power Beyond ports, the return line from the valve would need to be plumbed to the tractor sump. The HV5902 plate has all three connections on the plate, so no need for custom plumbing of the return line to the sump.

Well, I found a Tisco Front Pump on Ebay for $49 and the attaching adaptors and shaft that mounts on the crankshaft pulley for $89. So I am going to go the route you all suggested is the better way.

Also I pulled the old vane pump off of the loader, and the loader still had a couple of gallons of fluid in it and the fluid was clean and transparent. So I have to fabricate rear brackets and paint her-up. My total investment on the loader will be right at $400.
