How is parts availability on them? Were good machines in their day. I like the depth setup a person gets with a 7000, but the x94s were good, the IHC 56 was the Red equivelant.

Paul , The 56 is not equal to a jd in regard to row unit design and depth control, jd has parralel linkage, ih does not.

Hi Paul,
A coworker's FIL has this planter for sale. He sent me pictures of it. Looks like it sat outside for quite a long time. Needs work, that's for sure. I have pics I can email you if you would like to see what you think of it? Thank you.

Sure, do I have my email up? ramblerplm - I'm at hotmail.com

I'm not a JD expert tho, just know they were pretty good machines in their day.

I'd assume you are buying it for about scrap price, if you have to put much into it.

Yes, it would be for scrap price if I pursued it.

Let them scrap it. Had our units tested last year. precision units. The best one planted 999 out of 1000 and the worst one was 995 out of 1000. That was at 5 mph. simulated. Also will have a hard time finding corn graded good enough for plate planters. Depth control and seed bounce is another thing to think about.
