| Hi Dave, nice to hear from you again. We've made good progress on that JD rake - welded up a new spindle for the bar end, got a bunch of new teeth - new rubber ends for the bars - straightened out all the bars. All we need now is a stripper, it's missing one. We brought one up to the local blacksmith in town to see if he could copy it, he had it for some time and recently just gave up. But I'm far from giving up on it. I'll keep looking or I'll make one myself. Wanting the rake running gives me more motivation than the blacksmith had. Worst case scenario, JD still sells them for about 250 each... hope to avoid that. once we get the stripper replaced we'll strip everything and paint it up and make it look brand new - can't wait. That was a huge donation for us, it'll be our workhorse rake, that's for sure. We haven't tried the tedder or the crimper. Just haven't had the opportunity this year. It seemed we were always too pressed for time with pending rain to give us any play time. If nothing else, they're both great conversation pieces for now. Once the rake and baler are done, we'll turn our focus on to those. Thanks again. If you wouldn't mind replying to my email here I'd appreciate it, so I can get your email address. I've got it written down, but not sure where it is. I want to be sure to get you some pictures when we finish the rake. |
