I'm plowing with a Ford 151 4x18 semi-mount plow and I can't seem to get it to leave the dead furrow clean. So on my next round its rough. It seems to be plowing decent to me except its not cleaning the last furrow. What am I doing wrong? |

| I gotta say the impression I get from driving around a 986 that we rent on occasion, is they're pretty light on the front end without weights. Atleast it seems lighter than our 1855 did before we added the starter weight, 1 stack and 4 slabs to it. The only time it rears up is when I snag a tree root close to the fence row.

| Can't sya on his 1086, but on our Oliver 1855 we've got somewhere around 800 lbs on it. It just keeps the front end planted on the ground. If you're riding a bucking bronc, then you could use more weight up front.

| That's what I figured. I went from a Deere to this IH and it just doesn't ride as smooth. I've got 5 weights on the front but I guess ill have to hunt some more down |

| | Set the coulters so that they're leading in the cut that the shin wants so make... Then it should cut clean and reduce shin wear. Rod |

| | Does the plow have disc colters? They should be set so they slice one to two inches more than the plow bottom. My colters are also set about 3 to 4 inches deep. Without colters I don't ever see a furrow cutting clean Gary |

| Gary, how much weight do you hang on the front of your 1086 when plowing? Does more weight make it ride any smoother? |

| | Full set (10) but I"m pulling 6-16"s. Some of the bucking around may be from wheel slip. How is your rear weighted? Air ride seat helps a lot. Gary |

| Rear tires are loaded and I have the left dual on also. The rear inside tires are brand new. 5 weights on the front |

| Try moving the rear coulter farther out, towards the furrow wall. Then if that does it, move the other's over as well. In our plow manual for our 4 bottom IH it says to do that on the rear coulter and once set do it on the rest. And in sod that you might have to do this. Corn ground not as big of a deal. |
