Kuhn GMD 800 Length Alteration

I have a Kuhn GMD 800 HD II, 10 ft cut. At the end of this summer, on the end of the bar the bolts at the last top hat worked loose and cracked the tip of the bar. Could I cut the end of the bar, weld/seal the end and use the Kuhn as a 9 ft mower? Has anyone heard or seen this done? Thanks

I do not see why not. I once added a foot to a cycle mower and it worked fine.

The outermost knife hat must rotate counterclockwise as viewed from the top, otherwise you are wasting your time.

on a nine ft the first 2 disc turn clockwise....then ccw and cw to the end one, as said below, the last one is ccw, can you do it..I would say no....

Why try to reinvent the wheel? As rick noted... The outer disc must turn counterclockwise to pull hay from the edge of the cut. Doesn't work otherwise. Weld up the cracks... Very carefully... And move on.

Could just buy a new bar, as if the welding doesnt hold and the oil leaks out then you ruin all the gears and bearings
