i bought what i think is a plow gauge on a auction, it has a eyelet on one end and a hook on the other, has a pressure gauge on it that goes to 10000 pounds, any one have any info on it, thanks rod

There are gauges similar to your description used in the process industry (oil refinerys etc.) to torque bolts on heat exchanger heads etc. One end of the gauge is attached to a wrench of a known length and the other end is attached to the cable of a crane. The gauge is used to measure the force applied by the crane operator thereby torquing the bolts to spec.

Without a picture however I am only guessing. Yes, the gauge could be used to measure drawbar pull when pullin a plow, for example. Knowing the drawbar pull and the tractor speed one could calculate drawbar HP.

(reply to post at 20:17:21there was one at the dealership I worked at it was for setting pull plows back in the day. Wish I had one myself. I have a few pull plows myself they are set but would like to own one anyways. 10/24/12)

If you think it would work, would you consider selling it? I've been looking for one for quite a long time.
