548 plow hitch setup

We have a 548 Oliver plow that is 4-18s as of now but we are going to add a 5th bottom to it. It is semi-mounted and we are running the right tractor wheel in the furrow. It is not centered directly behind the tractor right now, and when we add the 5th bottom it will be way off center if we keep running the tractor in the furrow. Can I run the tractor on-land with the plow perfectly centered, or will this not work? The tractor that pulls it now is running 18.4-38 tires but we are going to pull it with a different one with 20.8-38s, and I don't think they will work well in an 18" wide furrow. I am trying to find a manual for this plow but they are kind of hard to come by. Thanks for any help!

Just put the 5th bottom on and run it.Most furrow plows are not centered. No a furrow plow will not work as an on-land.As for tires,I used to run a 16.9 in a 14" furrow, then went to 18.4 tires-same plow. Now am running 18.4 with a 16" plow.Never have/had a problem mashing the dirt.

Ive seen 20.8X 38 tires used with a 16 inch plow. Crushes the last furrow a bit but it works. I run 18.4's with my White 548 painted red that was originally Oliver green. Factory repaint before shipping. You can adjust the plows 3pt hitch so it will trail correctly. Multiple bolt holes on the tower. Roughly 15 years ago I bought a new operator's manual from the local White dealer. However it wouldn't surprise me if AGCO doesn't offer them anymore. Really need at least 112 inches of plow to properly run on-land. Some do it with less, but the plow pulls off-center.

It's not supposed to be centered, I ran a 7 bottom variable width JD plow and when it was plowing at maximum width the front bottom was inside the right rear tire and the rear bottom was over 6 feet to the outside of the left tire.
