I have been running my wood chipper on my SMTA. It seems to be a pretty rough operation compared to a finish mower or other equipment. I don't want to damage my live PTO. I am thinking that there might be a dampening device that could go between the PTO and the PTO shaft on the chipper. Any suggestions or am I worried about nothing? Thanks, Ellis

You're worrying about nothing. I doubt that chipper needs enough power to tax,let alone "hurt" a Super MTA.A properly adjusted LPTO will hold WAY more power than the engine will produce.

agree with Delta, and if it is like my pto chipper it has a set of belts from the drive to the chipper head and that will isolate the shock loads cnt

If your wood chipper has a slip clutch, if it is properly adjusted, it will slip before hurting the tractor, If it doesn't have one you could add one.

While I agree that you don't need to worry ablout your PTO and damage based on the belts and PTO clutch on the chipper, I disagree about the power comment. I have stalled my Ford 5600 with my chipper, and before it pulled it down I was running it nearly wide open, so depending on the size of the chipper and how hard you feed it, they can draw some horsepower.
