Parents went to Siberia and Found a Hay Rake!

My parents went to central Russia for four weeks in August. In a small village called Fabrichnoe (Фабричное) they found a McCormick Deering hay rake. Not sure of the model, but no doubt somebody here is familiar with these. They said they wanted to bring it home, but it would be a little awkward on the aircraft! Picture attached.

Now I have a couple look about like that!
...except my wheel bearings are in worse shape.
Good fixer-upper.

Did Leroy get you fixed up with some M-H binder guards?

Best,
Richard.

We have a Model M that is used on occasion.

It does not have the coiled rake teeth as the one in your photo.

Checked the operator's manual and both types of rake teeth, coiled and no coil, were available for this rake.

We bought this rake to help clean our hayfield.

Nancy calls him "Bentley"; I call him "Bud".

Was mowing with the JD 350 sickle mower down in "the bottom" one afternoon and saw something moving in the tall grass.

Figured it was a wild hog, but turned out to be him.

Stopped and turned off the tractor and mower and got down to see him.

He laid down and let me pet him.

Nancy saw us and came over; he followed her back to the house.

Been with me ever since.

Follows me everywhere when I'm on a tractor; rides in the truck with me at other times.

If I walk he either follows or tracks me down.

He just lays in the shade and watches me work.

Somebody threw away a good dog.

Richard, I haven't heard from Sad for quite a while, need to wright him. He was supposed to be checking on importability to Austraila for machinery parts he wanted me to find but I have not heard he found out anything. I think he has been too busy with other things. Guards for McCormick or Deere I could get I think but not for anything else unless they were the same as these.

Hello Leroy,

Trust all is well.
Thanks for answering my Q.

Sent you an email a short while ago (few old pics)
Up here I can find some M-H parts inc guards, but they might have some rust on them, as they have been a round quite a while.
Will write you again soon, as the binder is working well now, after needing some knotter adjustment. Nice to see it working again after sitting so long.

Richard.
