Help Identify Corn Sheller

Most early agricultural equipment in South Africa came from the USA, so I"m starting your side of the Atlantic. The seller can"t give me any identification marks and it is a days drive from my current location so maybe someone out there might recognize something?
I can"t find any belt driven m/c"s in the Encyclopedia of American Farm Implements etc that have the same chute or gear arrangement.
I really want to make a purchase commitment but something more to go on would really help.

If you could get some casting numbers, that would be helpful. Try non-tractor company catalogs such as Sears-Roebuck, Maytag, Clipper, New Holland (pre Sperry), or maybe Blue Streak (feed grinding equipment of the 50's)

montaguman,

Sorry I can't help with the identification, but it looks like a large piece missing on the large gear, and if the missing part has been saved, a skilled welding shop [i:9eef2cd80d]might[/i:9eef2cd80d] be able to repair it.
Otherwise finding any parts will probably be impossible unless you can find another identical sheller for parts.

Best wishes from Ohio,

Myron

Looks like that piece laying on top in 2 of thr pictures.. Being wood I could atempt to date it to the 20's or earlier. Some of the companys metioned if they had anything was already all steel or companys did not exist yet.

It's just arrived so we can have a good look at it ~ the main sheller castings have KX1 and KX2, does that ring a bell with anyone?
I've removed a side timber so the layout inside is clearly visible, shall I post another picture if that might help?

Now I"ve got it heading for kit form, maybe some details might prompt an ID?
Looks as if there should be a shaker tray, judging by eccentric pin and narrow belt land on inside of main pulley.
Spring tensioner looks unusual?
Traces of paint on inner parts is a sort of duck-egg blue with outer gears etc red; possibly a hint of white under all the crud on the timber.
With the KX casting marks could it be early IH?
