Slip clutch froze on bush hog

I have a bush hog brand 6' squealer that has a froze clutch. I have loosened all the bolts to where the springs have no tension now. I have also mowed with it but cant break free the disk. Anyone have any ideas?[/code]

Take it off and apart and shine it up. Rust on the steel discs causes
that problem.....too much friction between the steel and the
friction discs. Before you take it apart measure the length of the
springs with their current tension. When you put it back together
tighten the nuts down to get the same spring length. If you get
them too loose it will slip under a normal heavy load. Too tight and
why have it in the circuit.

With the springs loose, carefully drive a sharp putty knife in between the clutch plate and each driven side..
When you get it broken loose, leave the springs pretty loose and run it and let the clutch slip long enough to shine the plates, but not long enough to over-heat them..
Then tighten the springs just enough to keep the clutch from slipping during normal heavy use..
You NEED it to slip, if you hit any solid objects..
I would dust the clutch plates with some graphite, to keep them from setting up again..
I need to Dust the clutch on my JD 520 about twice a year, to keep it from getting too grabby..does NOT make it slip..
