   Anyone ever seen one of these? Vermeer sprinkler built sometime in the 1960's. Two running in Alfalfa and a close up of moving it in corn. Sure beats hand lines. |

| Yes, when irrigation started in Western Stearns Cty, central MN....probably 58-59. There were two sizes available. Lots of work shutting down, moving pipes about every four hours day and nite. Later the center pivots came into use, along with traveling guns for odd-shaped fields, fed by pipes and rubber hoses, typically a heavy old tractor used as an anchor to winch against. I was raised on sand....never regretted buying good clay ground here. Only one serious drouth in 40 years. |
