I have a JD model L, series 51 ground driven manure spreader and I misplaced my manual. I need to take a link out of the feeder chain ( apron chain). .I can't quite figure out how to do it, I have the tension off of it. Thanks Gregg |

Use a come-a-long to pull links together to have slack enough to line link in slot of other linkand use one of the tools similar to one in photo to hammer links apart.

| | That spreader uses the standard type apron chain with 67H flat links. Kind of hard to explain in words, but you hold one link steady and pivot the adjacent link so that the flat end/side pieces line up with the slot in the tubular end of the held link. Then force the pivoted link to slide sidewards through the slot. May have to rap it with a hammer. Google "67H Steel Detachable Chain" and you should get a good drawing of the link showing the flat end and the slot! |
