There has got to be someone who has redone a Dearborn disc harrow. I've checked all of the parts places trying to find 1" round axles that are 32" long, no one has a round 1" axle. Any help would be appreciated. |

looks like i got 4 axles...32&1/4 long x1" diameter...even has the key slot...no nuts...has a 1.5" square head on end of axle...you"ll need to wear out a wire brush on em,but look solid otherwise. $20.each plus the trip

i'll have to look in the barn tomorrow and measure the length on some 1" axles we been hauling around for years...pretty sure theyre off the rear gang of a Dearborn disc my grandfather cut down and made it 3 point...only thing i'm not sure of is if its keyed or drilled for a castle nut...i think the nuts are still on axles too.

As was said, a machine shop or do it yourself. Or call Shoup's. They will gladly custom make one. Needed the same part for my Ford 224 (bit bigger than your Dearborn), was NLA from New Holland. Shoup's had it made and to my door within 3 days.

Only thing is, there is a key way in the threaded end. Not sure what it's for though.

keyway is probably for a locking washer you bend over the nut to stop it from unscrewing.

You wouldn't even need a machine shop to do that for you. Buy a piece of 1" shaft and weld the threads from a 1" bolt on the end. It doesn't have to be perfectly concentric as it's just slow speed. Clamp the two pieces in an angle iron with a 1/8" gap and weld it up.

Around here, any machine shop would make it for you probably cheaper than you could buy it. Most machine shops are looking for work. Richard in NW SC
