I talked to a distant relative who said he was talking this for scrap. I told him Id buy it. He said $25. It turns. Needs one new chain link and I have to fix the wheel as its cracked and crooked. Any suggestions for fixing that? Thats my dad in the pictures.

A steal if you needed one! my opinion for fixing the wheel,,take it off,lay center of wheel on a floor jacks pad.Use a chain to outsides of wheel, maybe two, under jack. Slowly raise jack while watching crack Once it closes,if it does, slack off jack. if crack opens , jack it closed again and go just a little farther and check it again. ideally you want it to stay together without welding simply to releive stress..Onced youve got it closed check wheel for striaghtness and weld. it may be cast , so that would probably mean heating the center hub. or at least the spokes so they can bend.spokes can be straightened much the same way with a bottle jack and chain used like a press. its not easy but ive straightened them a few times. biggest problem will be whats on the inside of that wheel you will have to rebuild or repair. that appears to be a drive wheel so it could have about anything inside torn up.

I bought one this spring I think you should have paid a little more it, scrap prices aren't $50 a ton,
they don't look to be that heavy but it sure fooled me.

unless your going to use it for parades if it turns without excessive wobble just fix the hub and don't worry about it. We have an old hay rake that wobbles 4" off side ways.
