I'm looking for some used Ford 530 parts in decent shape.I need some of the leaf springs for the flywheel clutch. I also was wondering if there is another source for clutch disc other than New Holland. My small disc for the PTO shaft are history. The larger ones for the flywheel look pretty decent. Thanks, Richard |

| The discs aren't that bad from NH... though you could probably match them up with weasler aftermarket stuff if someone keeps a good rack of it on hand. The springs... I just used coil springs on mine. IIRC I actually got a larger spring and a smaller spring to fit inside it... cut them mabey 2.5" long... flat washer and lock nuts, new bolts, etc... then wind them down fairly tight. It will take some adjusting to get it tight enough. Also get HEAVY springs with 3/16" or so coils if you can. I used lighter and it's not quite as strong as I'd like but it does work. Probably needs a bit more adjusting yet too...Rod |

| | I ordered everything from Messicks. I thought everything was "fairly" reasonable except those dang springs. I have a stack of clutch springs out of a 1650 Oliver that would most likely work. If they are good enough for a 70hp tractor they shouldn't be too weak for the old baler. I'd be running three instead of the 6 the 1650D had. The last time I baled my grass was thin and the windrows were light and I just couldn't get very many good bales. This time, the windrows were nice and thick and this sucker made very nice uniform bales, only at 2 mph. Anything faster caused it to clog under the wind guard or slip the clutch when it made it to the chamber. I had to back off the tension because the bales were 90# and the string would pop as soon as they hit the ground. I'm actually pretty impressed for a baler that hadn't done anything for 20 years but sit in a barn. Richard |
