Im needing to know how many bales I can expect per acre on haygrazer/gotcha grass/ sudan grass, cut at 20inor nless high. I planted it in my 20s and 30s, but at 65, ive forgot the amount of bales, small, I got per acre. Please idicate where your from, and if you fertilized it or bot. Thanks |

| I've seen a lot of haygrazer/Sudan hay baled too wet and when it was pulled out of the stacked row to feed was tobacco brown or black in the middle of the bale. I'd rather for it to be a little too dry than a little too high moisture when I bale it. |

If I was going to spend the time & money to planter haygrazer I'd buy a crimper. It will dry better and feed into baler better. |

| I plant it every year following corn, I fertilize it with 200 lbs. per acre of triple 19 at planting and 100 pounds per acre of urea when it is at leat 8 inches high and a rain is coming or just had a good shower, seed costs too much not to fertilize. I try to cut at boot stage, the variety I plant is normally at least 4 feet tall at boot if we had pretty fair rain, back when we used to square bale everything it would often make 150 or more 40 - 45 lb. twine tied bales to the acre, this is in North louisiana. |

Sorry I overlooked the "small & Please indicate where your from" in your first post. BTW where are you located??
Coyote Flats(newest town in TX) 30 miles South of Ft Worth. I've lived in the country all my life and wanted to die in the country. But they voted me to be in a town GRRR.

| SW OK here, Greer County. Whatever you do in bale size, make sure you got the right moisture content and don't stack them in very big lots with as much room in between as you can.... remember my neighbor last year, big round, too moist, row next to row and 2 high in a weedy patch.... needless to say nothing but 16 bales out of approx 120 left, and we had 3 tractors plus 2 5t grasstrucks on it .....(it rekindled while he held watch, fell asleep) |

| Grew lots of it way back when; usually let it get a little taller than that before cutting. Always fertilized according to soil test. Typically got 5-6 (1500# brb) per acre on first cutting in West TN, which translates to about 110-125 squares per acre; lesser amounts for 2nd (and sometimes 3rd) cuttings. |
