I have restored a 3 bottom CASE pull type....spring trip hook type hitch. For safety in towing, show, parade, I would like to eliminate the hook type and the twist clevis hook up...less flip-flop around. This was ok for in the field. Any suggestions for modifications so as to using a hitch pin?

Yes, there is a "knob", sort of ,on the bottoom of the hook and a little piece of iron with hole in it back a ways so the one can wrap a wire through and around the bottom of the hook. I did that when I towed this down the interstate !!!! and then down some back roads. Yes, I bolted the clevis tight to hitch in back of a Honda SUV. Thanks for the thoughts.

One possible solution would be to fasten your clevis solid on drawbar, which Dad did for plowing, and you could then drill a hole through the bottom of hook or welding a nut on bottom, and use a bolt or a small cable through and around top of hitch to keep from jumping out of clevis. This would still keep it basically intact and looking mostly original.

Does your plow have a tail wheel that can be locked so it runs straight? I have a John Deere 4-16's that the tail wheel can be lock by just dropping a pin in a hole on it.

Yes, it does, but goes down into a slot when the hyd. cylinder is on. Wasn't going to do that just for show.

Ive never done one on a plow, all ours are used in the field, but if you could post a few pictures i bet someone here could find a way. ive modified certain types of equipment simply by bending an offset in two flat pices of metal and bolting one top and bottom to hitch.
