How do you set up a disc plow?

I have a cub 151 disc plow mounted on a cub. I have it hooked up properly, but the manual doesn't go into any detail on how to set the plow up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have a fergy double disc plow, man that thing will plow in places that flat bottom plows only want to choke up.

do not know how to set yours up, but you might try the internet: you tube section and do a search.

also there should be a farmall site or international site that should have some old tractor gearheads on there that could help you.

hope you enjoy your disc plow as much as i have the old fergy bullet disc plow.

Thanks. The guys on farmallcub.com are about the same. They don't know how to set it up either. I have the manual, but it says nothing on how to set it up just installation. I've found nothing on the net, and you tube has a few videos of them plowing, but nothing on set up.

I guess I'll block the left side of the tractor about 8" up, and set the disc on the ground, and level the beam out side to side and front to back an see how it does

Thanks again

that is a good start,

but you will find the disc plow will try to push the tractor to the left.

on the fergy disc plow note the trail wheel with cutter.

I have owned an AC disc plow made by Athens plow company and this fergy disc plow.

both plows must have the rear cutter blade that digs in and keeps the plow running straight.

without the rear trail wheel i do not believe you could plow with a disc plow.

does you plow have a rear disc wheel to hold against the cutter blade as the blade plows?

I have seen on youtube a cub fitted with a disc plow, one was under the belly of the tractor and the other was a rear plow more like mine.

again not setup instructions

but the disc plow under the belly is giving the old "A" a run for its money.

would have thought there would have been some type stabilizer wheel on the plow to stop all that movement to the left.

again good luck with your plow.

show us a picture of yours when setup.

Mine is like the rear mounted one, only it has 1 disc.

The rear tail wheel prevents the plow from pushing left, and since it is tied into the steering, it also has an adjustment to center the wheel, and can be turned a bit too the right to help with the push also.

a few more cubs plowing that i found
one shows a cub that looks good as new with one disc plow and the old dude is doing a great job of plowing.

again
good luck,
I am out moving dirt with my little fergy, my wife said i was like a big ant,

Neighbor used one for many years with the two discs and tail wheel. Pulled it with a B JD. The purpose of the tail wheel it to counteract the sideways pressure of the disc.

So to answer your question as to "How do I set it up?" When it plows as deep as you want (might take more than one pass on hard ground) and the tractor steering is unaffected by it being there. Simple as that.

If you don't have the tail wheel, forget it because there is nothing but the front tires on the tractor to counter the sideways force the plow exerts and you are stuck with it.....I learned that the hard way in buying this neat 4 disc plow....but wait, no tail wheel.

HTH,
Mark
