New Idea 30A lift

I've got a 30a that I got 2 years ago, I've cut about 50 acres with it and the last two rounds last year the lift started acting up. It's a rope lift and now when I pull the rope it jerks and shudders badly, but eventually raised all the way. Kinda seemed like a stripped gear or something was allowing it to drop before it was fully raised.

I haven't opened it up yet, but I wanted to get some pointers on where to start.

All this is covered back in the archives so I will not try to go into complete detail. Trouble typing after surgery. Pull the top cover off and clean out all the old caked on dirt-grease combo and make sure the spring is not broken and the bearings are good. Refill with 90 weight tranny grease. Works about the same as a plow clutch. Need more help just ask.
