I saw a Cub Plow like this for sale.
Is this an original Cub Plow? The ones I am use to have the Solid Mold Board. Not to fimiliar with the Mold Boards with the Cut Outs? Is this an original Cub Mold Board or Did Someone add this later? What model would this be?

Around here I have heard them called slatted moldboards, or a roostertail. I am thinking maybe for sticky soils like maybe gumbo. I have only seen 1 or 2. I think it may be factory, but like the lugs on steel wheel tractors they vary from area to area depending on conditions.

I just found this on the net.
Plow is Factory made by IH.
I would still love to know the model number and more information on the plow. All the ones I have seen in Ky. have the solid mold boards. I think they are called Slatted Mold Boards or Rooster Tails. Would like to know model number? Was this an Optional Mold Board? And Any Other Info you guys have.

I have a 1949 brochure on the Farmall Cub and Implements and under the One-Way Moldboard Plow it states and I quote "You can get a wide variety of bottoms to meet the soil requirements of your locality" therefore I feel that it was probabily factory original. Many called them slat bottoms.

The slat moldboards were never an aftermarket item, made as far back as the horse drawn walking plows for sticky soils.
