no-till on 2 row sweet corn planter

I have a 2 row Pequea 3 pt planter. It uses JD 7200 planting units. Can this be converted to no-til? Has anyone had success with this? Thanks.

You must have gotten the ad for the round-up ready sweet corn. I haven't found the pricing on it but the ad I have says they will give you $2.00 off per 1000 seeds.

i wondered when no till sweet corn would be available,

knew it would only be a matter of time.

seed company rep told me it takes lot of money to develop a no till type seed.

they did not sell that much sweet corn seed to off set the cost of development.

yep I got it from Rupp. Seminis is pairing with several seed companies on it. I know that just the Bt sweet corn seed is a couple dollars more per thousand seeds than the same w/o the Bt gene. (providence : BC0805). I also wonder how much you will have to buy. BC0805 and a couple others I could get in 25000 seed lots but some you had to buy 100000 seeds. I didn't plant any Bt corn this year. Last year I did but still had worm troubles plus stink bug damage so I still had to spray.

It is only available in about 3 varities that I know of. Two of them are supersweets(sh2) and have to be isolated, the third is Temptation an se corn. I have gone to growing all synergystic corns, sweeter than se and not the isolation requirement of the sh2. I have also heard that there are poast protected sweet corns on the market but I don't know what they are. Also I have heard that all Bt corns also Harmony herbicide resistant. Not sure about those last 2 items.

A set of nose mount coulters on the units should do the trick, OR you could put a bar up front and put on a set of regular coulters. Scalloped blades work best, and Keeton seed firmers really help in no-till for seed to soil contact.

Martin Row Cleaners without a doubt!!!!

Couple that with spiked closing wheels, Keaton seed firmers, drag chains, and RID guage wheels and you will have a great no-till planter.
