New Holland 276 Pto Clutch...

Well, my new to me 276 makes a very nice bale, and made almost 350 for me and almost 50 once my wife decided to "help", which is why this post is here... She was doing just fine, until the PTO came off the front of the Flywheel.... After looking at the parts diagrahams, it appears that the center post piece is supposed to have a bolt and washer that holds the rest of the clutch pack in place??? On mine it appears to have basically ground the bolt right down to the shaft size and then came apart. My question is, is there a bolt there? I can drill and use an easy out to remove the bolt if so, but I don"t want to drill if there is not supposed to be one there. Since I had to finish baling with my round baler to get done before the rain, I"m done for the year now, and while I"m at it I"m going to replace the flywheel bushing and the shearbolt bushing too, as well as the bearing in the clutch pack that is now apart already.

Thanks in advance,

Leo

Been too long since we had one to remember... but I'd think you could see a line or lines on the shaft where the bolt head, washer, and shaft meet. Put a vicegips on the ground-down head of the bolt and remove (if it's there) - avoid all drilling and use of the easy out. Seems like ours came apart like that once, but that was over 20 years ago.

I tried to take a picture of the thing last night, It all came apart, and I believe what happened is that the swivel just behind the union on the front of the tongue is stuck, creating pressure and it appears to have basically pulled the clutch over the bolt head, it kind of acted like a lathe and simply wore the entire bolt head down to the same size as the spindle. I am going to have to put it in the vice and hopefully can use a pipe wrench to back what's left of the bolt out. I've never seen someting like this before. I'm going to replace all the busings on the flywheel and the clutch while i'm in there, they need replacing anyway's..
