Ok, I've narrowed down my problems, it does appear due to rust that I need to remove one of the shims from the top rail of the plunger. I managed to loosen one of the two bolts last night, broke one. I do not see any where that I can access these bolts from the top, nor can I figure out how to get one of the shims out. Do i have to remove the Plunger??? If so, how do I do this, I do not see any info on how to do this in the book. Thanks for any guideance. Leo

You may could center head of broken plow bolt in the feeder forks slot to replace bolt. If that's not successful you'll need to remove PH from bale case. Block hay dogs out of bale case, remove any side hay resistors/wedges,disconnect PH pitman arm and slide PH out the rear of bale case.

Plunger removal: use wood scraps to hold top and bottom hay dogs back from bale case. Unbolt the pitman bearing. Grease or oil the bale case and slide the plunger out the back. Helps to have 2 people. It is heavy and awkward. Put it back in reverse order and tighten those pitman bolts big time.

Leo, You need to remove the plunger head, and clean out the rust between the rails and chamber. In one post you mentioned chaff build-up. Chaff will not force its way in between parts and open space up, rust does. you mentioned loose near front tighter towards rear. This indicates rust between rails and chamber. Bite the bullet and get after it!!
