1091 Hesston haybine

I have a 1071, which I believe is the same but 7' instead of 9'. I love it. I have been running it for about 8 years now and my fields are very rough. Parts availability has been pretty good, it's a rugged machine compared with some of the older New Holland haybines I ran before this one.

My Grandpa bought one new; I ran it for about half the time he had it. I was never impressed with the rubber-on-steel roll arrangement. I like my MacDon's meshing steel rolls better. Check the chain and sprockets on the right hand side (reel and roll drive), as the small sprockets are prone to wear and the chain to stretch. Also check around the gearbox for cracks. That was the last straw for ours; it started cracking, and would crack next to the new weld when repaired.

I bought an 1120 new in 94. Excellent machine. If the 1091 is anything like it,you can't go wrong.

I bought one last summer and used it on 2nd cutting. Seems good to me. I noticed some of the same problems mentioned here already, repair welds on the plates that connect the gearbox to the sickle shaft. Mine ran really quiet and cut great though. Seems to be a good machine to me. My father in-law has one as well and he really likes it.

I just purchased a 1071 that was in good shape and found that the AGCO parts from our local Hesston dealer were only about 10% higher that either Tisco or A&I. I was pleasantly surprised at that since a similar part on New Holland and IH were about 80% higher. Just thought you might like to know
