Case 550 (hesston PT-10?) Sickle drive belt

Hi, I'm looking for someone that might know the specs for the sickle drive belt on this windrower. I wanted to try and get a replacemnet belt before this one breaks. I was hoping not to remove this one until I have the new one on hand. I'm looking for the length and width. I see in the parts book that the original belt was a round belt. It appears that mine was replaced at one time and it has a V-belt on now. It also appears that whoever replaced the belt the last time has cut access holes at various places to help in the installation. The Case part number for this belt is FHO-57745. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Neal

pt10 is the same as a Case 555, a 550 is differen't, all I know is that the 4 rib belt for a 555 was available from Case recently and will make your rear end hurt when you see the price, my 555 was worn out and I replaced it with a 488NH

Neal,
I noticed this post.. did you happen to find the specs? I have the same problem and will be taking on this project today - (since my sickle bar belt broke yesterday). What I am not sure of is how to disassemble shaft assy's to get new belt over - if I find info.. i will forward.

Hi David, You noticed that the belt would be much easier to install if it had a master link too? My belt came off when i hit a thick patch of grass in a rough field. If it wasn't for the large chunk missing from the one section of the belt I would never have been able to re-install. No luck on the belt find....and on further inspection I'm not so sure it is a "v" belt. Just worn flat. I also looked at what would have to come apart to replace the belt. It certainly doesnt look like fun. I will appreciate any info you find out. I had no luck with finding belt specs. I understand that AGCO dealers can still get the original round belt for over $100. OUCH.
thanks Neal

I did find a replacement belt at TSC (96" kevlar v-belt )- although I am not sure if it will work just yet. I spent the day on sunday trying to get the shaft assy's disconnected so I could install. Unforwunately I could not get the vertical shaft disconnected. I removed the 6 5/16 bolts that attach the sickle bar shaft to the bearing.. I need to find an illustration of how the shaft attaches to the pulley. I was concerned about breaking something so I stopped.

BTW - Similar failure - when I hit some tall grass the belt came off the machine. With the new belt - hopefully it will be able to handle this.

I just replaced the sickle bar belt on my 1966 pt10. I bought a kevlar belt from TSC (5/8x100") for 24.00. I know the hesston dealer up in west branch michigan has the original round belt for 60.00 or so. Anyway the replacement took me a while - basically you need to remove the upper bearing from the shaft and you will have enough room to route the new belt around shaft without having to remove it
