Looking at some NH balers

Just looking for quick input:
268-$650, about an hour away
273-$1950, 3 hours
276-$1650, 3 hours

268 & 273 both used last year and stated as good and field
ready. 276 has been in a shed for 7 years.

I"m leaning toward the 268 because of location and price.
Give me your opinions. I"m baling ~1000 straw bales, maybe
some grass or alfalfa, but straw is the focus right now.

Thanks

Was told years ago by a NH dealerthat the 268 was a lightly built baler.

The 273 was a very popoular baler, produced for years. Must have done something right.

276 is, I think, a somewhat higher capacity baler.

I've never used any of these.

I had a 268 and it was a very good baler. The 273 is the bailer that replaced the 268 when they change the numbers. I would go with the 268 and never look back.

Can't speak for the 268/273, but the 276 was a GOOD baler. Newer than the 268, so parts may be easier to get, down the road. The higher capacity may not be NEEDED, but sure can be nice.

The NH 276 was one of the best square balers ever built. Very good capacity and very reliable. The NH 268 and NH 273 are good smaller balers. Are you going to be baling behind a combine??? I started out with a NH273 and had a JD 7720 combine. The windrow was too big for the baler had to ride the clutch a lot of the time. Another difference is that the 268 and 273 did not have a way to adjust the feed into the chamber. The 276 did. Not a big difference but a differences.
The value of square balers has gone up in the last several years. The prices you quot are pretty good values if the balers are in good working order. Look over each for knotter and plunger wear. A pretty paint worn out baler is not as good as a faded low use one. The cost of parts has gone up with the baler price. A pair of needles and a needle frame used to be $350-400 now it will cost you $650-750.

Where are you located??? If your not interested in the NH 276 I would be. Email me. Thanks JD Seller

I have a 268 that has never failed me. It does not like overly large windrows and does not like to go fast, however, it always makes nice bales. Haven"t had any problem finding parts, but they are always high priced. I"d consider the amount of time you have to bale. The 276 would be considerably fster than the 268.

I have a 268 I use for about 3,000 bales per year. I love it. So far I haven't had issues with parts availability.
