Recently bought a JD 224T baler. I have seen a ton of info on 14T and 24T balers but not on 224T. Is this a newer version of JD balers and are they any good. Any problems you all are aware of. The thing looks to be in pretty good condition but haven't had a chance to try it out yet. All comments are appreciated.

Hey Doug can I ask what you gave for it? I saw one for sale last weekend here in north Texas but did'nt stop by to ask the price (kids were in a hurry). I was going to wait until after Xmas to get serious about buying a baler but it sounds like this is an excellent unit. Thanks.

Doug,

You have purchased an excellent baler. The 14T, 24T, and 224T are all quite similar. They have an excellent knotter and should go practically forever, if properly cared for. We have an old 24T that has baled 5 or 6000 bales a year for the last 25 years and is still going strong!

Found a 224 T in Cape Girardeau MO that looked real good, they were asking $1700 for it. Appeared to have been shedded and taken good care of. If you don't mind what did you pay for yours and in what local did you get it from? Having run 14's and 24's, I liked the way it looked (more modern and streamlined, especially in the knotter assembly). You can still get most parts for 14 and 24 so parts should be available for a 224. Just a piece of advice but make sure and get an owners manual and a parts manual, it will make you life ALOT easier. Welcome to the haybalin club!!

The 224T was the replacement for the 214T, and is a heavy-duty version of the 24T, sold during the same period. The knotters are pretty much the same on all these balers, as well as the 33x series that followed.
