get a book from massey ferguson and check your needle timing.make sure needles go all the way into the knotters.timing is set on the chain it may be off one link or 1/2 link.make sure chain is tight.any way get a book you will be glad you did it.these are good balers new holland and john deere give just as much trouble look at the message board you will see.

Purchased an old MF 124 baler last year. It had twine in it that looked good but was a couple years old. I could never get it to tie with the old twine. I switched to synthetic twine and it worked better. It still didn't work as well as I would have liked. There are only a few adjustments. Make sure the needles are bringing the twine to the knotters properly. They should just miss touching the twine disc on the way up. The needles can be adjusted at the bottom. The twine knives should be sharp and adjusted so they are close to the twine disc. There is a spring which adjusts the tension on the twine disc. As I recall this is set to a total length of 1-1/2". This is the only true adjustment on the knotters. I think the knot that is tied with these knotters is different than is tied on the New Holland balers.

Good Luck
