I Have 30A NI sickle bar mower, I pull it by 53'
Ford Jubille. I would like to know How to sharpen the bar it seems when I use it, it just pass by the grass without cutting it, I would like to know what is the best way to operate to get this mower cutting as far as the speed of the tractor vs the speed of the ctting bar. thank you in adavance for any input.

There are several thing that might cause your problem.

1. Are the ledger plates in the guards sharp?

2. Is the sickle sections sharp?
3. Most important. Is the sickle in time. This means the sickle makes a complete stroke. The sicle section must go from center to center on the guard to get a complete cut. This can be caused by a inproper itman stick.

4. Are the hold downs holding the sickle down snug aganst guards.
5. Is the bar that section are fastened on square edged or worn round.
I sold hundreds 30 A's and they are mowing machines if maintained. I was a NI blockman.
