I have a 5 ft Howse 500 rotary mower (brush hog type) with an AGMO R-45-312 gearbox. It is leaking fluid around the (horizontal) input shaft. Does anyone know where I can get parts (input shaft bearing or seal) or repair information?

Thanks,
Craig

well since we've heard from Kentucky...this Tejas long haired redneck says same thing...fill it with grease...i got a lil 5 foot shredder that developed a leak about 30 years ago...i drilled and tapped fill plug for a grease zerk...filled it up and give it a squirt or 3 whenever i think about it...i've heard good things about that cornhead grease too...buddy of mine runs it in his Harley Panhead tranny...one of the few Pans i know of that dont mark its spot.

Thanks to the both of you, from wherever you hail and whatever your stripe. I'll try the grease in the gearbox and mow some grass.

I am just a KY redneck, but I solved that problem by filling my cutter gearbox with grease. Must work OK as it has been in gearbox for years and I have had no problems.

Got the idea from a TN redneck, he could not keep the gearbox from leaking on his NEW Holland hay rake, so he filled it with grease.

Others have filled the leaking steering boxes on their little Ford/Ferguson tractors with John Deere corn head grease, say it works fine.

UPDATE: Thought I'd let you know. Thanks to the advice given on this board, I cut my own gasket, put it all back together, and added some grease to the gearbox. I've mowed a total of 7 acres in three different fields for myself and my neighbors without a drop since.
Thanks,
Craig
