I broke the shaft on my brushhog today. It broke where the PTO shaft slides onto the spline right in front of the slip clutch. JD says they can get the part(AW20476) and it will only cost me $250. Seems kinda high to me. Anyone know of a better/cheaper source for this part?

Your slip clutch is there to prevent that kind of failure. Have you got it adjusted right or is it frozen? Don't know where you live but www.AgiSupply.com has shafts but shipping could add to the price because these things are heavy. You might also look into seeing if a driveline shop can fix it if you have the time.
