I don"t have any personal experience with a Big Bee, but a neighbor has one and thinks it is OK. As far as cutting "only" 2 inches, most standard-duty rotary cutters are rated for two inches or less. If you go into the Woods site (top of the line stuff) you"ll see most of their standard-duty cutters are rated for 1"- same thing for other good brands like Landpride and Bush hog. If you want to cut 3" brush, you"ll probably need a heavy or extra-heavy duty unit, and be looking at closer to $2000 new for a smaller unit.

I think they built just South of Tupelo, Miss. I had a 5 footer behind an Allis WD45. It only lasted about 4 years.(probably my falt for not keeping it cleaned off better.) I thought it was light duty, and I swear it took more hp to run it than a Bushog brand 5 footer. The blades were pretty soft, and "buttered" over pretty quick. I replaced them with a good quality blade and it really helped.

I have a 6' model I run behind my 550. I replaced a used King Kutter that came with the tractor. I abused the KK model mowing my place (numerous small stumps from pulpwood logging).

One I located all of the stumps and got rid of them I went looking for another mower. The local dealer had a Big Bee for $600 for 6' or BushHog 5' for $1000.

I got the Big Bee and have not been disappointed. The front skids are a bit thin so I added some metal, other than that has been a good implement. Works fine and lasts a long time.

I just think it is pretty bad when you can ONLY cut 2 inch trees with it. Seems a littel on the light side to me.

I've never used a Big Bee mower, however, I do have a International Macherinery rotary mower that works excelent! It's built very heavy and mowes really nice and cost much less than other brands. Might be something to look into, Summer before last I happend to get into it with a railroad post that "misterously" apperaed in my lower field....well need less to say it got jamed up pretty good, the mower held its own though and still runs like a little top....

Good luck hunting

Kelly

R,

I have a Big Bee rotary brush mower (Bushhog). It is old and worn and beat up and works great. I have used and abused it for nearly 10 years now. It was used when I bought it. I replaced the gear box about three or four years ago, and I recently had the stump jumper gone over at a local machine shop.

Big Bee does not have a website. They are located in Alabama or Mississippi. I could find a phone number for you if you needed it. I've talked to their customer service a couple of times and they were very helpful.

I don't know about the price you are talking about, but I would give the product an unqualified endorsement.
