JD 4400 variable speed cylinder control small spring on

On my 1978 JD 4400 combine the small spring (JD part #H76523) that operates the pawl (JD part #H76522) broke and I got it removed as the cylinder speed would not stay set in place while running. I purchased a new replacement spring from DEERE and I'm trying to reinstall it so the pawl snaps back and forth and the ratchet to hold it in place while running. I've tried all sorts of possibilities to put it back together but have not been successful. I am seeking if there are some closeup pictures and/or step by step instructions to indicate how this done? I've looked thru my OM but do not find any closeup pictures detailed enough to get this replaced properly. I regret I am unable at this time to post a picture from the parts manual. As always, any and all assistance is appreciated.

FWIW, 3300, 4420, 6600, 6601, 6602, 7700, 7701 and 7701 used the same setup, if there are any of those machines in your area you could look at.

There has been a 6601 sitting in the trees at a neighbor's place.

If I get a minute I'll ask if it's still there and if I can stop and take a couple of closeup photos of the lever in question.

Steve-
We have a 4420 with that setup. I'll get a couple of pictures of it tomorrow morning and post them in a reply.

Steve-

I took a few pictures of that spring in the handle. Let me know if you need better pictures.

Thank you, Lon, for the pictures. I'm getting an idea how that spring is installed but would like to see what hole(s) the ends of the springs goes in. I'll be giving you a call.
