Harvesting 30 row soybeans with a JD 216 head

I'm looking at buying a 216 flex head. I
currently run a 215 and get along well
harvesting 6 30 rows. Will a 216 be too
wide when striking out lands?

Thanks for any real-world advice!

We ran a 216 with 30" rows. Been about 10 years. Only thing I remember is when opening up the field it's a little wide. Once the field is open it's actually nice because it gives you a little more room in case you get off a little bit.

We've been running a 20 ft head now and that one sucks for taking 8 row 30". So we usually take 7 rows once the field is open.

Thank you- I measured standing beans in
the field as well as both a 215 and 216
header. I think it will work fairly well,
but like you said, while opening up a
field, it may not be as handy as the 215.

Thanks,
Lon

On this forum it should be just like the tractors, buy another combine, and have a machine to open the fields, and one to cut the field after you have it open :)
