100 series header on a 4400

I recently took the header off of my 55 parts combine with the hopes of putting it on my 4400. My brother sold the 216 header years ago because we were constantly having to cut fences when we done custom work. We did not have a header trailer at that time. After taking the header off I noticed the bottom of my 55 header curved in at the bottom and my 4400 feeder house face is flat. Apparently this is not a 100 series quick tach header? My 4400 has been sitting in the barn for about 20 years and my injector pump will not pump. Would it be better to send it off for a rebuild or try and find a salvage one?

As you discovered JD didn't come with the quick tach header until the 00 series combines despite the fact headers between the square back 55/95/105 and 00 series are mostly the same.

Back in the day there was a company that made an adapter to use the old 55-95-105 grain platforms on the newer 3300-4400-ect. machines. I have
never seen one but have seen the ads from the company. A welding shop or even many good fabricators may be able to build a fill in for the
feederhouse opening. In my area of WI a few good 100 series heads can still be found reasonable. I have a decent one here with poor reel that
I would sell for $250. Your injection pump will need to go to a diesel shop as most likely the metering valves are gummed up from setting. Tom

I appreciate the information. A friend of my Dad has a combine salvage yard not to far from us here in southern Missouri. I was able to get in touch with him this morning and he has a quick tach header he would deliver for 500. It needs bushings for the auger but sounds like its pretty much all there. I read a post where someone filled there injector pump with ATF and let it sit for awhile and got the pump to work. Have you ever tried this or heard of it working? Thank you for your feedback on this.

It may work but it does not matter, your pompe is a roosa master db or jdb, and there is a flex ring inside, that needs to be changed.
You can fixit youself fairly easy.
