540 Massey combine clutch

My traction Clutch on my 540 I purchased won't release. Combine has only been sitting about two years since last used. Free travel seems about right. Could start it in first gear with variable speed and throttle at idle. Drove around with clutch pedal depressed and slamming on the brakes. Could not get it to release. Anyone have any experience with one of these? Wish I had a manual.

Disc is probably rusted to the flywheel. IF there is an inspection lid you might be able to spray the shaft with some loose juice and then put a heavy timber across the feederhouse and put it against a tree to help get the disc free from the flywheel. Other option is a big tractor and some chains from the axle to tractor or just pull it apart and free up that way. If you could get the pressure plate loose the disc would come loose easier.

MF gear drive combines have a hole in the clutch arm to block the pedal down when machine is not in use, so the clutch discs/spacer plate won't stick from setting.

Those clutches are easy to pull, just just loosen the drive belt and pull the whole unit .As I remember one nut holds the whole unit to the transmission.
