'68 JD 45 combining beans in 1996

Just posted some video I made in Oct 1996 of Dad combining beans with his '68 JD 45.

I think the beans were kind of short that year. I know it was a late spring as some other video I have trees were barely budding out on May 18 and corn was still being planted. Don't think any beans at that time.

Looks good. My first combine was a 45 without a cab. Shelled enough corn to pay for it the first year. I still have 2 45's setting in my shed
on my Maryland farm. Not sure if I will ever move them to WI or not. Tom

Rode along on dads 45 hilo a lot of rounds, no cab, back in the day. We went to a Gleaner F in about 80.

Things have sure changed in the past 30 years or so.

Musta been from not too far down the road of me.

Oh, I meant to say, you folk got in on the Belarus tractor deals back in those days! Ha. The Case IHC dealers around here got into those. For a short time.

SE part of Kandiyohi Co, in Minnesota.

Dad got that Belarus 562 direct from the importer in '89 and it came from Wisconsin. There was a dealer in Redwood Falls for a while I think and he got some parts there. Starter got water in it and shorted out is one thing I recall.

Its still on the farm. Had to do the head gasket on it a couple years ago. No problem getting parts via the internet but you need to know what you need. Also, you need to be your own mechanic. Only gets used to bush-hog the property or grader blade now. Too big for those tasks really.

I think that 45 sold at the auction in '98 for something like $450. 235 Corn head sold separately.
