I have been trying to get the pacer on my R50 to work. We have tested all of the components on the test box, they all seem OK except the sweep meter, which is most important, The service manual says to use an ohm meter to test it, which doesn't move it, it is a new sweep meter. We then tried another new one at the dealer that one also doesn't move. Now we don't know if they have two bad meters or is our test procedure wrong. Does anyone know how to test them? Also did they ever put Terrain Tracers on R50 feeder houses, I could sure use one on my sidehills as the 5000 20ft flex head doesn't flex enough, sometimes cutting dirt tight on one side and 8 inches up on the other.

That meter should just be a calibrated volt meter to match some expected input voltage. Assuming the combine voltage is 12V, applying a varying voltage from 0-12V should test it. I'd start out with a 1.5V AA battery across the meter terminals to see if that gets the needle to move a little. Try adding some more voltage with more AA batteries in series to see if it moves more. I would not go straight to 12V as perhaps that circuit has some resistance in it to lower the voltage of that circuit to less than 12V.

Testing with an ohm meter should put a small current across the terminals to measure the ohms but the ohm meter might not put out enough volts to move the needle. Does the meter have an specified ohm value it's supposed to measure if it's good? That might be the test and not an expectation that the needle moves.
